The biggest talking point surrounding the return of The Hardy Boyz was whether WWE would be using the insanely-popular Broken gimmick.

Matt’s legal issues with Anthem is clearly the big stumbling block, as they believe they own the gimmick and although we’ve seen a couple of teases on television, we’re yet to witness the character appear on programming.

BROKEN GIMMICK

However, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter revealed earlier this week that WWE does intend on bringing the Broken universe to television, and they’re currently working out a deal with Anthem, although a deal hasn’t been finalised.

That’s the plan, we will see Broken Matt once he and Jeff drop the RAW tag team championships, and they also don’t plan on giving Anthem any royalties on any long-term merchandise deals – once they pay Anthem, they take control of the gimmick for good.

So, it’s going to be an exciting time to be a fan of Matt in the near future, hopefully, but WWE apparently also has huge plans in store for Jeff.

DailyWrestlingNews is now reporting that Vince McMahon is seriously interested in giving Jeff a big, main event singles run sooner rather than later.

Jeff has always sold a lot of merchandise, and during the heights of his singles success where he claimed both world championships in the company, it was said that he was selling even more than John Cena, so you can see why Vince would want to do that as he still has that appeal.

SINGLES PUSH

In fact, you could hear that on the RAW commentary this week when they were really hyping him up as a singles star during his match with Cesaro.

The same source has also listed two feuds WWE is apparently interested in, if and when Jeff gets this big singles push.

They’re claiming that one of the opponents is Finn Balor, and it’s certainly something fans will be excited by because of the characters and how entertaining their matches would be.

The second is Brock Lesnar, although it does seem unlikely that - should Jeff become world champion again – that he’ll be the one to dethrone The Beast Incarnate, although if he decides to utilise the amazing chair shots he once did, he may stand a chance.

Something fans have wanted is for them both to be on separate brands, allowing them both to flourish with their unique characters rather than having to sacrifice one to allow the other to succeed.

If the rumours end up being true, then it may not only be Matt that ends up having the incredible success in WWE.
