Despite all of the rumours that were circulating months ago which claimed WWE wasn’t on great terms with Stone Cold Steve Austin because of his podcast work on the Network, the Texas Rattlesnake has come out and shot down those claims.

He explained why he missed WrestleMania 33, and talked up the positive relationship he maintains with Vince McMahon’s company which is great news for WWE fans.

MENTOR

However, that doesn’t mean Austin always talks positively about what’s happening on-screen, and he was recently in the headlines for his review of the underwhelming WrestleMania 33 match between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton.

He changed the business, so you can say that most of what he says is constructive criticism as he’s mentioned on numerous occasions that he wants the younger stars to succeed, so they'd be wise to listen to him.

Not all of it is the same, though, as he recently spoke with Vince Russo on his podcast, where talk quickly turned to who Austin would mentor on the current WWE roster.

It’s an incredibly stacked roster with some huge names now with the company, even those on NXT, but the Hall of Famer had a brilliant pick of his own – Monday Night RAW’s Braun Strowman.

BRAUN STROWMAN

He talked up Strowman and how his future looks bright, and who can blame him? The Monster Among Men has received a lot of praise for succeeding in his current role; exceeding expectations while it's important to remember that he hasn’t been doing this for very long.

After Russo asked who he’d pick, Austin replied: “Man, right now, it would be Braun Strowman.

“Yeah, I think that he could be a superstar, because he’s larger than life already as a person.

“He’s got a good look. He can naturally talk, he’s very chatty. He’s very smart. He has a charisma about him, and he’s green as grass.

“He’s only been around about a year, I think that kid has a world of potential.”

Things are looking great for Strowman, as WWE is booking him really well and ensuring he looks like the biggest threat in the company, and fans loved it when he destroyed Roman Reigns last week and is even expected to defeat The Big Dog when the two meet at Payback.

Not only that, but a summer feud against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship just shows how much faith the company has in him to be involved in something that draws a lot more attention than usual.

Despite not being his mentor, Austin’s podcast is a great way to get advice across, and you can bet Strowman would take it.
