Double blow to England hopes

Captain Steven Taylor and Danny Welbeck have pulled out of the England squad for the European Under-21 Championship due to injury.

Newcastle defender Taylor has an Achilles problem, while a knee injury sidelines Manchester United forward Welbeck.

Neither player will be on the 23-player final squad list that will be submitted to UEFA on Monday, and replacements will be named.

Stuart Pearce's England youngsters begin their campaign against Finland on June 15 in Halmstad, and also face group games against Germany and Spain.
