The talk of a super fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather went quiet over the last few weeks, other than the usual update fans hear which doesn’t provide any indication that the two will actually meet in a boxing ring.

If there’s one thing the two have in common, though, it’s their love for money – or cheese as the Notorious likes to call it.

FIGHT PURSE

As expected, talk of the potential fight purse kicked off the talk yet again as UFC president Dana White appeared on ‘The Herd’ on Wednesday and claimed that the Irishman could be in line to receive $75 million while the 49-0 American could receive upwards of $100 million, meaning it’ll approximately be a 57-43 split in Mayweather’s favour.

Not to be one-upped, McGregor was quick to respond to those claims and admitted that when the fight actually happens, he too will make over $100 million.

However, it was activity on his Instagram shortly after which had fans talking.

He responded to a fan that had sent him footage of him doing pad work, providing tips on how to improve before making a joke about his American rival.

He claimed that should Money back out of the fight, he’ll either return to mixed martial arts or he could even target Manny Pacquiao; somebody Mayweather defeated but in unconvincing fashion.

PICK ANOTHER BOXER

In a post which has already been viewed over four million times, he claimed: “Here is a reply video I sent one of my protégés who was seeking advice on some boxing only pad work footage they sent me. I believe you will like it.

“The focus has been solely on boxing lately but make no mistakes, the kicking and grappling aspects, and everything else got to do with unlimited free fighting, is still very much present in my thoughts.

“Floyd may c**p his jocks after all and if so, I will go back to true fighting or just pick another boxer like Manny [Pacquiao] or something. But whatever, that’s another conversation.

“I like to build fighters and watch their progression. I have built many to this date, and all unintentionally. One is fighting in the UFC main event this weekend.

"When my son is born, I will build him up into a multiple free fighting world champion also. Just like his old man. I look forward to it.”

While it may have just been all talk, you’d assume that he’s so deep into the boxing negotiations that picking another big-name boxer would be the right and natural path to go down.

He’s certainly created waves in the boxing world since he announced his intention to fight Mayweather, so perhaps Pac Man could be the next target after he fights Jeff Horn, and if the fight with Mayweather fails to come to fruition.
