It's not too unfair to say that Jermaine Jenas is not in the same bracket as Alan Shearer and Frank Lampard when it comes to former Premier League players.Jenas had a decent career by anyone's standards, though, and injuries probably robbed him of fulfilling his once exciting potential.Jenas started his career with Nottingham Forest before securing a big money move to Newcastle. He then moved to Spurs in 2005 and spent eight years at White Hart Lane.As his career fizzled out, the 21-time England international went on-loan to Aston Villa and Forest before finishing up with QPR.He retired in 2014 - at 31-years-old - and has become a respected pundit since. However, he was up against some stern competition on Saturday for the FA Cup semi-final between Chelsea and his former club, Spurs.Shearer is the Premier League's record goalscorer ever with 260 goals and he won the title with Blackburn in 1995.Lampard is, arguably, the greatest ever goalscoring midfielder and won eveything with Chelsea, including the Champions League.Jenas asserted at the end of the game that he believed Spurs were the better side against Chelsea, despite losing the game 4-2.He said: "Spurs didn’t deserve to lose the game in the way they did. They were the better team throughout the game - they dominated possession. But granted, Chelsea were much more potent in front of goal"Spurs have dominated that game. Chelsea were on the back foot for the majority of it - hanging on."As you can see by the clip below, Shearer was not having that.

But then it got worse for Jenas; Lampard really shut him down with his next comments.

Jenas: "Spurs played better than Chelsea."

Lampard: "You don’t need to be at your best to win semis and finals, I know a lot about it."

Jenas: "Tell me, Spurs were the better team, won’t you be disappointed to lose like that?"

Lampard: "Well, I would be disappointed if we lost 4-2 and be called a better team later."

Ouch, take that, Jermaine.

Jenas' only experience in a cup final is his League Cup final victory back in 2008, so perhaps he needs to consider the company he is dealing with when making a point in future!
