Gillingham defender John Nutter has signed a new one-year contract at Priestfield.

The left-back, who turns 27 next week, featured in all but one of the Gills` games this season as they won promotion back to League One at the first attempt.

Nutter is one of five players to have followed manager Mark Stimson from Stevenage to Priestfield, having also played under the Gills boss at Grays.

He is currently recovering from hernia surgery but said: "The stitches are still a bit tight but the physio says I should be back in time for pre-season training."
