On Saturday, Romania Fed Cup captain Ilie Nastase was banned from the court after shockingly swearing and abusing first the umpire, then Johanna Konta, who was playing for GB, and then to the GB captain Anne Keothavong.

Nastase, who earlier in the week was accused of sexism towards Keothavong for asking her for her room number, called Konta and her teammate f****** b******.

Then, in truly heartbreaking fashion, after losing on her serve Konta broke down in tears, and play was suspended for 25 minutes.

When play finally resumed, Konta turned the game completely around, winning five games in a row to win the match 6-2, 6-3, drawing the tie at 1-1.

After the game, Konta said: "It was not something anyone should've experienced.

"I am not one to cry on court, it did feel a bit embarrassing."

This is nothing anyone wants to see on a tennis court, yet Konta wasn't the only one at which the abuse was directed at.

GB captain Keothavong after the game said: "I expected there to be a patriotic crowd but I did not expect any abusive language."

The LTA are equally appalled, and have said: "The integrity of the sport must always be paramount."

They will be launching an official investigation into the actions of Nastase. However, while the majority of opinion was sympathy of Konta, there was some criticism.

People were calling her weak for breaking down on court, and it quickly became especially controversial as she broke down after she just lost on her serve.

Romanian player Sorana Cirstea accused Konta of gamesmanship and overreacting to Nastase's comments and going off the court at the time she did. Certainly it was significant to Konta's advantage to go off the court, and the match outcome proved this.

As for Nastase, his future looks extremely bleak, and is possibly facing a lifetime ban for his disgraceful actions, that is according to the Telegraph.

It doesn't help that he has been accused of racism and sexism remarks earlier in the week.

He was heard saying Serena Williams' baby will be "chocolate with milk". For these comments he is already facing an ITF investigation, now with these comments as well, the investigation will have to be intensified.
