Sorana Cirstea clearly felt very limited sympathy towards Johanna Konta after she broke down crying due to the abuse directed at her by Romanian captain Ilie Nastase.

Konta left the court in tears yesterday just a game after Nastase was ejected from the court for his disgraceful behaviour.

However, this was after Cirstea had just broken Konta to go 3-1 up in the set, and that is something that clearly annoyed the Romanian.

Cirstea said: "I'm not happy.

"If you want to stop the match, stop it at 2-1, not at 3-1 when Johanna starts crying."

In addition, Cirstea claimed she had been the subject of abuse many times before, saying: "I've played all over the this world, they called me from gypsy to b***h to a******e to idiot."

Cirstea said that Konta apologised to her when she came back onto the court, which must've meant she was exaggerating, according to the Romanian.

She concluded: "Then when she came back on court she said to me: "I'm sorry." So she knew she exaggerated.

"I don't think the crowd did anything. Everyone was so nice, we treated you guys so nice. I don't feel it's right that you put all this on us because we're a lower country than England.

"Next time I'm in trouble I will cry and then maybe I can go off the court."

Although, Konta could have just been upset that she couldn't control her emotions, which is what it looked like to the people watching.

While Cirstea is certainly in the minority for going after Konta and showing no sympathy, she does make a valid point.

The break was crucial to the final outcome of the match, and if Konta was really upset, then the game should've been suspended at 2-1.

Yet, Konta carried on and it was only after she lost on her serve that she broke down in tears. When she returned, she won five games in a row to beat Cirstea 6-2, 6-3.

Therefore, it's no surprise that Cirstea feels hard done by, and every sportsman will be disappointed after suffering a defeat.

Yet, she cannot justify the outrageous and abusive comments made by her team captain Nastase. Those comments should never be heard on a tennis court, and it was upsetting for everyone watching to see the events unfold.

As for the Fed Cup match, Romania and GB are level 1-1 going into Sunday, but how will these events impact the matches to come?

Can Konta overcome her emotions and lead GB to victory? Or will Cirstea get her revenge over the GB team and lead Romania into the next round?
