The Golden State Warriors are on the verge of progressing to the second round of the playoffs after taking a 3-0 series lead over the Portland Trail Blazers last night. The Oakland-based outfit secured a 119-113 win at the Moda Center and had to rally in the second half to get the job done following a strong performance by the home team. Superstar small forward Kevin Durant missed his second consecutive game with a calf sprain but his absence didn't affect the Dubs too much. Reigning MVP Stephen Curry took responsibility and poured in 34 points as he put Portland to the sword for the second straight year in the postseason.Curry didn't shoot the ball particularly well by his standards going 10-25 from the field and 5-14 from beyond the arc. However, the All-Star point guard hit the biggest shot of the game when his team needed it the most. With the Warriors up four and with just under a minute to play, Curry went one on one with Blazrs guard Allen Crabbe and after a few dribbles nailed an incredible clutch step-back three to ice the game.

It was a crucial possession for the visitors and the three-point marksman put the finishing touches on the night for his team as they came back from a 17-point first-half deficit.

His Splash Brother Klay Thompson added 24 points and they had good production off the bench too as Andre Iguodala posted 16 points and JaVale McGee contributed with 14.

After the game, Curry dedicated the win and kept the game ball for head coach Steve Kerr who was absent due to the illness.

"Our coach is going through a lot right now physically and he told us this morning this is a situation where we need to rally and go out and win a game for him, but we felt like that," Curry said.

"The way that game had gone on we had to fight and do it for him. The way that he said it was we had to win one for The Gipper, so shout out to coach Kerr."

Assistant coach Mike Brown took charge of the team in place of Kerr and kept them rolling. Golden State now has an opportunity to clinch the series on Monday night and grab an extended rest period before they face either the Los Angeles Clippers or Utah Jazz in round two.

The men from the Bay Area are on a mission and they will take some stopping.
