Fight fans were treated to a stacked main card at the UFC Fight Night 108 event where Cub Swanson lived up to his nickname by picking up a unanimous victory over Artem Lobov.Al Iaquinta pummelled Diego Sanchez on his way to a knockout victory but it was perhaps the first contest of the main card that stole the show when Mike Perry took on Jake Ellenberger.

PLATINUM PERRY

The outspoken Perry made good on his word as he scored another vicious knockout victory, this time over the 32-year-old; one which many are already calling the knockout of the year.

The finish came in the second round of their welterweight contest and as you’ll be able to see in the clips below, the up-and-coming knockout artist landed one of the most vicious elbow finishes you’ll ever see inside of the Octagon when he put Ellenberger to sleep on his way to picking up his 10th professional victory.

The knockout meant that every single one of Perry’s victories has come via knockout, while his only professional loss came in his last outing when he was bested by Alan Jouban at the UFC on FOX: VanZant vs. Waterson event.

The reaction from fans on social media spoke volumes as well – it was one nasty finish.

As expected, Perry was uber-confident on the microphone during his post-fight interview where he claimed that the elbow finish is something he and his team were working on in the build-up to this fight.

KO OF THE YEAR?

He also dropped a subtle call-out to Conor McGregor’s teammate Gunnar Nelson, who last defeated Jouban at the UFC Fight Night 107 event.

Following the fight, Perry said: “I do everything I’ve been trained to do. Let’s go baby, that’s what I was looking for! Shout out Nashville.

“I’ve been setting up that left hook for a few weeks with my boxing coach. I fake it low, throw it high. And I’ve been setting up that right elbow too because I knew he wanted to hit me with that overhand right.

“I want to ask ya’ll whose life you want me to ruin next.

“Anybody, let’s move up the rankings. We moving on up. That was 13, who beat my last opponent? I don’t care. Let’s get him. Anybody.”

That’s the sort of attitude UFC president Dana White likes, and with more performances like this, you can bet Platinum will be handed a big-name opponent as the highlight reel knockout artist continues to make waves in the organisation’s welterweight division.
