Sergio Ramos picked up the 22nd red card of his Real Madrid career during tonight’s Clasico - and no, that is not a typo. The Spanish defender has as many Clasico red cards as Lionel Messi has goals in the fixture - and it was an awful tackle on the Barcelona maestro that resulted in his latest sending off this evening.Ramos flew in on Messi and referee Alejandro Hernandez was in no doubt that it was a tackle worthy of a straight red card.Ramos, needless to say, didn’t leave the pitch quietly. He was caught making a gesture towards his old foe - and international teammate, lest we forget - Gerard Pique.

Video: Ramos' gesture towards Pique

What does Ramos' gesture mean?

Is this what Pique said to Ramos?

And according to some on Twitter, Ramos’s message to Pique was clear: “Talk now”.

If true, Ramos was obviously referring to Pique’s penchant to a) moan about referees favouring Real Madrid, and b) moan via the press and on social media.

Messi the hero for Barcelona

Despite almost being broken in half by Ramos, Messi went on to score the winning goal in the dying seconds of the match.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner scored the 500th Barcelona goal of his career with a beautiful strike as Luis Enrique’s side secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over their bitter rivals.
