Just two years ago, only a handful of people in England would have really known who N'Golo Kante was when he was playing for Caen.

Now, everybody knows and respects the French midfielder as he closes in on his second Premier League title in two seasons with two different clubs.

But on Sunday evening, he also claimed the PFA Player of the Year award.

The man in Chelsea's engine room has received plenty of plaudits for his ability to win the ball back and cover every blade of grass, but he is more than competent on the ball, too.

Ultimately, he must be an absolute nightmare to play against and that's why all of his peers voted for him.

Chelsea are four points clear at the top of the Premier League with just six games to play and marched into the FA Cup final after defeated Tottenham at the weekend.

Eden Hazard came off the bench alongside Diego Costa in the 61st minute of their semi-final victory and the Belgian proved to be a huge difference maker with a goal and an assist.

It was only two years ago that Hazard was picking up the very award that Kante now holds so dear, and despite returning to form this season after a down year last term, there was not one ounch of jealousy when Kante went to pick up his award on Hazard's part.

As you can see from the clip above, Hazard greeted Kante with a special handshake on his way up to the stage and both men had big, wide smiles across their faces.

It's good to see. We're sure Hazard appreciates what Kante does for the team and a slew of pundits do as well.

BBC pundit Danny Murphy, speaking on Match of the Day 2 on Sunday, actually believes that Hazard is replaceable in the Blues lineup, but Kante is not.

Former England midfielder Murphy said: "He's the one you can't replace. If Eden Hazard wasn't there, you could put Willian in. Kante is the best midfielder in the Premier League, if not Europe."

Speaking earlier this season, BBC pundit Phil Neville described Kante as "the one who has knitted this Chelsea team together".

"I thought he was a number six like former Chelsea player Claude Makelele. But he is a number six, an eight and a 10 - he plays absolutely everywhere, three different positions," he said.

"I think Kante is the most complete midfielder in the Premier League at the moment.
