Real Madrid's clash with Barcelona had everything you could possibly want from an El Clasico.

Crunching tackles, stunning goals and late drama - it was non-stop action at the Bernabeu, with the away side eventually securing victory thanks to a last-minute winner from Lionel Messi.

From Jordi Alba's cross into the box, the Argentine fired past Keylor Navas with a superb curling effort and duly celebrated wildly.

But while Messi's late heroics was the game's biggest talking point, Sergio Ramos' red card in the 77th minute also caused a bit of a stir.

The Spanish centre-back lunged into a nasty two-footed tackle on Messi that, had he made serious contact, might have broken the Barcelona star's ankle.

He was given his marching orders as a result, though he didn't leave the pitch quietly.

In the video below, as Ramos walks towards the tunnel, he turns and points at Gerard Pique before gesturing up towards the Bernabeu stands. It's believed he was saying 'talk now'.

What Ramos was referring to is Pique's comments about referees showing bias towards Real, whereas on this occasion, he felt the shoe was on the other foot.

Ramos has now explained his behaviour after getting sent off and, according to the Spain international, he was sarcastically applauding Pique.

He also condemned his international teammate and Barcelona for always talking about referees' so-called preferential treatment towards Real.

"I did not applaud the referee when I walked off. I was talking to Pique, not to the referee," he said, per the Daily Mail.

"Referees can be right and sometimes they are wrong. This one was decisive. But I was chatting to Pique, not the referee.

"They (Barcelona) have a different understanding of the game and always talk about referees. But we will not talk about referees, that is not our style.

"Pique always talks about referees. Maybe it is better to talk about the referee sometimes than to keep quiet, but I will not start any controversy.

"I have no problem with Pique, but he might not get a hug after a Clasico like this."

Ramos is clearly annoyed with Pique, who believes his countryman will realise the error of his ways once he watches replays of the tackle.

"I am convinced he will realise it was a clear red card once he gets home and sees it again," Pique said. "He went into the tackle with both feet forward when Messi got away.

"It was all very clear, he goes in there with his studs up and does not get the ball. There is no discussion about it."

The next time Ramos and Pique see each other should be interesting...
