Though Derrick Rose's career with the Chicago Bulls didn't end according to plan, as a series of injuries kept him from playing in the 2012-13 season and limiting him to only 10 games the following year.Rose's Chicago tenure ended before this season, when he was traded to the New York Knicks, where he averaged 18 points, 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds over 64 games. However, after missing out on the playoffs in New York, Rose is clearly missing Chicago, which is also his home city. He was at Sunday night's Game 4 matchup between the Bulls and the Boston Celtics, watching as the Celtics claimed a 104-95 victory to even the first-round series at 2-2.After just one year with the dysfunctional Knicks, though, Rose already sounds like a man who is broken spiritually, as his explanation for why he was at Sunday's game was sort of sad:

Whether or not the Rose playoff tour will continue after Sunday night's game, it's clear he did not enjoy his one season in the Big Apple.

Despite Rose's decent numbers, the Knicks still finished with an abysmal 31-51 record, missing out on the postseason by 10 games after what was actually a semi-promising start to the season.

As a free agent this offseason, Rose's playoff tour may be serving a different purpose. He may be scouting out playoff teams from this year that may need his help during the 2017-18 campaign.

That's why his trip to Memphis to watch the Grizzlies is intriguing. Behind starter Mike Conley, the Grizzlies could use a proven backup to lead the second unit.

However, Rose would have to take a hefty pay cut for such a move to make sense for the Grizzlies and it's unclear at this point whether he'd be willing to do that. Earlier this year, he said he felt he deserved a max contract, though his feelings on that may have softened in recent months.

The 2011 NBA MVP could also be eying a return to Chicago, where the Bulls may have a point guard vacancy if they decide to part ways with the mercurial Rajon Rondo this offseason.

Perhaps Rose's postseason tour should take him to a Toronto Raptors-Milwaukee Bucks game next, as the Bucks may be the one current playoff team where Rose's presence would make the most sense next year.

With forward Giannis Antetokounmpo's ability to handle the ball, Rose wouldn't have to be a full-time ball handler and could focus on getting to the rim, which is when he's at his best. Whatever happens this offseason, though, one thing is for sure - Rose is just happy to be out of New York.
