Whenever you mention Conor McGregor, you now instantly think of whether any advancements have been made towards a super fight against Floyd Mayweather, rather than his career in the UFC.It’s no secret that the Irishman has been aggressively pursuing a mega-money fight with the unbeaten American, and you know it’s serious when Money has claimed that he’s only coming out of boxing retirement for the Notorious.

SUPER FIGHT

Last week was no different, as UFC president Dana White told The Herd that he estimates McGregor is locked in for $75 million, while Mayweather is looking at north of $100 million – but McGregor wasn’t going to admit defeat in the financial battle as he went to claim he too is looking at $100 million.

Claiming how much money is going to be made and actually meeting inside of a boxing ring are two different things, though, so fans are right to be sceptical right now about it ever happening.

However, Lance Pugmire of the LA Times has revealed when the fight could be taking place.

While he didn’t get official word from Mayweather or McGregor, he instead spoke to Olympian Michael Conlan who revealed he’ll be part of his fellow Irishman’s boxing camp and explained when the fight could happen.

SEPTEMBER CLASH?

Pugmire tweeted: “Michael Conlan tells me Conor McGregor asked him to be part of his boxing camp, still eyeing Sept. date against Floyd Mayweather.”

Fans will know that Conlan shares a close relationship with McGregor, as the latter was seen accompanying Conlan to the ring during his professional debut fight inside The Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Although he picked up an impressive third-round TKO win back in March, it was McGregor who stole the show as he went on to confront the boxing media and claim that he is boxing.

Pugmire’s claims come after White recently admitted that although he’s attempting to hammer out the details, they’re not close to actually finalising anything.

Fans have every right to be sceptical about this, as Pugmire also made the exact same claim from the same source some months ago, as he claimed that Conlan had told him McGregor is targeting the clash in September, but nothing has been announced since.

Mayweather has been quiet on the situation in recent weeks, as he reiterates that he’s the A-side in the fight, and it seems like he’ll only show an interest when fans have something concrete to be excited about.
