There are a lot of understandable contrasting opinions on the potential super fight between UFC’s Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.

There are those that think the fight is a complete joke and shouldn’t happen at all, such as Saul Alvarez, while plenty of fighters are claiming that the Irishman stands zero chance of leaving the fight as the victor.

SUPER FIGHT

Granted, there are also some that give the Notorious the edge; should the fight ever go ahead.

It felt like we had a breakthrough last week when UFC president Dana White estimated that McGregor is locked in for $75 million while the 49-0 American is going to earn over $100 million; but McGregor took to Instagram to claim his American rival won’t one-up him as he too is looking at north of $100 million.

Even if McGregor loses, he’d certainly feel like a winner on his way to the bank and although not many are giving him a chance in this fight because Mayweather has managed to defeat some of the best, not everyone is ruling out an upset.

One of those men is Dana himself who recently appeared on Snoop Dogg’s GGN to explain that there are no guarantees as to what the outcome might be.

TROUBLE FOR FLOYD

He said: “At the end of the day, it’s a fight.

“Floyd Mayweather is 40 years old, Conor McGregor is 27. Conor’s a big dude. Floyd has trouble with southpaws; Conor is a southpaw. And Conor McGregor hits like a truck. When he hits you, you know it.

“So, in no way, shape or form am I saying Conor McGregor wins this fight. I don’t know.

“But it’s more interesting than people think it is. I promise you Conor McGregor will hit him. When they fight, [Mayweather] will get hit and it will be interesting to see what happens.”

You can’t argue with what Dana as saying, as he is simply listing facts.

McGregor is the younger fighter, he does hit hard and Mayweather has struggled against southpaw fighters in the past – although, he’s always found a way to win.

It’s easy saying all of that because it’s been displayed inside of the Octagon, but it’s a completely different story when it comes to boxing as those factors may be futile should the fight ever come to fruition.

Who knows? Maybe McGregor won't even get a chance to test his power against Mayweather inside of the ring.
