Dele Alli claimed his second consecutive PFA Young Player of the Year award on Sunday, after playing another starring role for Tottenham in their chase for the Premier League title this season.

The young England midfielder only broke onto the scene in the top flight at the beginning of last campaign, and already the 21-year-old is attracting the attention of some of the world's biggest clubs - despite only joining the club from MK Dons in February 2015.

Few people would have anticipated the young Spurs star developing so rapidly and producing the kinds of performances that he has done so far in his Spurs career, which has seen successive title challenges and reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup this term.

But for a man of his quality, Alli will only be looking up from here, and if he continues to develop in the same upward trajectory, it may become difficult for Tottenham to keep him from the grasp of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Alli has been linked with the four European giants over recent months, having installed himself as Mauricio Pochettino's first name on the teamsheet in midfield and produced 16 league goals and five assists from midfield this campaign.

The Spurs midfielder has hugely impressed and surprised many during his two seasons in the Premier League, and legendary England midfielder David Beckham is impressed by the manner in which Alli plays.

England in luck

"We're lucky, as a nation, to have young talented players coming through, and he [Alli] is without doubt one of the shining lights of these young players," said Beckham, per Goal.

"He plays the game with a certain arrogance, and it's good to have that arrogance, because a lot of top players have that. He's a joy to watch."

Alli took no time to get used to the Premier League, despite jumping two tiers in the English football pyramid, and although he is now accustomed to top flight football, Beckham sees no reason Alli to be lured away by the giants of Europe.

Becks backs 'special' Alli

"He's a player that hopefully, if he works hard like he has been working hard, and continues to play for the manager [Mauricio Pochettino] that he's played for - because I think he's a special manager, and he's looking after him in the right way - he's a special player," Beckham added.

"I hope he continues to get better week after week because, as an England fan, we want to see these players perform the way he's performing."

Harry Kane and Premier League top scorer Romelu Lukaku were both also in the running for the Young Player of the Year award, only to be pipped to the accolade by the for MK Dons youngster.
