Eden Hazard may have narrowly missed out on the PFA Player of the Year Award on Sunday night to his Chelsea teammate N'Golo Kante but he isn't feeling bitter.
"It's fully deserved," Hazard told Sky Sports. "He had a great season with Leicester and then this season too.
"You know the trophy most times goes to the player who scores some goals or gets some assists and wins games, but N'Golo changed that. He is not scoring goals or making many assists, but he does a fantastic job on the pitch. He deserved to win."
Nevertheless, Hazard has every right to be pleased with his own performances this campaign.
After a disappointing 2015/16 season, the Belgian star has been back to his best under Antonio Conte, scoring 14 goals in the Premier League and creating five more.
When Chelsea have needed a breakthrough or a piece of genius to give them the edge, Hazard has usually been the one to step up - a great quality of a potential leader.
With John Terry set to leave the Blues at the end of the season, a new permanent captain will need to be appointed.
However, Hazard, who Roberto Martinez has handed the armband for Belgium, is not interested in taking up a similar role at club level.
The 26-year-old revealed he doesn't feel he has the right skills to lead Chelsea to glory but thinks three of his teammates do.
He added: "I think we have some players who can be more than a captain in this team.
"When I talk to you at the national team, I don't know if I am a good captain, but I am a captain on the pitch. Off the pitch I don't like to talk a lot, in England I think the captain has to talk and make people ready for the games.
"I am not this kind of guy, I can talk with my feet but it's not my job to talk to everyone.
"I think JT does this, Gary [Cahill], [Cesar] Azpilicueta and even Cesc [Fabregas]. They deserve to be captain."
After being benched for the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham on Saturday, Hazard is expected to return to Conte's starting XI for tonight's clash with Southampton.
The Blues can extend their lead at the top of the league to seven points with a win before Spurs are back in action tomorrow.
