N'Golo Kante has had a truly remarkable two years in the Premier League.Having arrived at Leicester City from relative obscurity in 2015, the former Caen ace helped to turn Claudio Ranieri's relegation battlers into Premier League champions.Twelve months later and he is in a great position to become the first man since Eric Cantona to win back-to-back titles with two different teams. The Chelsea star's rise to prominence reached the pinnacle on Sunday as he walked away with the PFA Player of the Year award for 2016/17 following another stellar campaign. In recent years, the award has traditionally gone to players better known for their efforts in the final third of the pitch but Kante has bucked the trend by wowing his fellow professionals with his consistently brilliant performances from midfield. But who did the winner himself vote for?Of course, PFA rules stipulate that a player cannot vote for someone from the same club, which prevented the French international from showing loyalty to the likes of Eden Hazard or David Luiz. And, according to Chelsea's official website, Kante's verdict was that Liverpool's Sadio Mane had been the best in the league.

In an interview with their midfielder ahead of Tuesday's match with Southampton, the Blues casually revealed who Kante voted for.

"The quiet and unassuming midfielder, who revealed his own vote for the award went to Liverpool's Sadio Mane, is quick to stress the appreciation is mutual."

Conveniently, there aren't any quotes from Kante himself to explain his decision, although Mane's statistics speak for themselves.

The Senegalese international scored 13 goals and picked up eight assists during his maiden campaign at Anfield before a knee injury ruled him out for the rest of the season at the start of April.

And being the Reds' only natural winger, he has been sorely missed by Jurgen Klopp. Never more so than during their 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

But that is of little concern to Kante and Chelsea, who will be looking to back up Saturday's FA Cup win over Tottenham by returning to form in the Premier League against the Saints.

"We had to bounce back after our defeat in Manchester and we played a very good game against Tottenham, it was my first time playing at Wembley," Kante said.

"Now we have to focus until the end of the season, there are six games left and we have to give our best to win the league. We have to win a minimum of five and every game is like a final.

"It’s always better to play in front of our fans because their support helps us a lot so I think it’s an advantage to have four games at home and two away, but we have to win them."
