On Saturday night, Anthony Joshua takes to the ring for the fight of his life against legendary Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley Stadium.

In his preparation for the fight, Joshua is looking to find any way possible he can gain a advantage, no matter how bizarre it may look, or painful it may be.

The Mirror has displayed a video of Joshua undergoing a series of "fire cupping" therapies, which involve boiling hot plastic cups being sucked onto his back on a recovery table.

The ritual is a Chinese healing method which sees a suction created on the skin from heat or pumps to bring the pain to the surface, and in turn, it is able to treat ailments such as deep scar tissues, muscle knots, swelling, and general blood flow throughout the body.

While this may seem unconventional to the common man or woman in the street, Joshua is not the first athlete to undergo this type of treatment before their chosen event.

It was made famous by Olympics swimming legend Michael Phelps when bright red circular marks were seen on his body when he took part in the 2016 Rio Olympics Games.

Andy Murray is another who is a firm believer in the use of the cups, while it is also common place in the entertainment world.

For those people expecting to see a big family group hug if Joshua wins on Saturday, that is not on agenda with the 27-year-old banning his mother from attending.

You can watch the video of him receiving fire cupping here.

It is certainly not a spiteful act by Joshua, in fact to the contrary, he has got his Mum's well-being in the front of his mind.

"I don’t really let my mum come to my fights, I've banned her.

"It’s not a place where you want to see your kid, I don’t think, at a fight. My dad can watch it, but not my mum.

“She is confident enough in me to watch, but I would rather she not be there. One of my cousins will call her after the fight. She enjoys it all, though, and she gets a few freebies," he said.

While it is hard to predict what may occur, you get the feeling that the two combatants will put on an almighty show in a few days time.

Both Joshua and Klitschko are not afraid of the big occasion and have plenty of self confidence in their ability.

There comes a time where an athlete has a standout moment in their professional career. One that they look back on with immense pride in the following years.

Klitschko has had plenty of those moments in his glittering career.

Saturday night might just be that moment for Anthony Joshua.
