While the brand split has worked out for a handful of superstars, it’s clear that there are still some inconsistencies when it comes to having Monday Night RAW compete with SmackDown LIVE on a level playing field. The most obvious is the fact that the red brand boasts a more stacked roster, which is understandable as it’s the three-hour show and has more time to fill – and it’s why some stars struggle to make it on television.

POTENTIAL PUSH

Certain booking decisions have favoured RAW as well, especially when WWE originally had the SmackDown Women’s Championship match on the WrestleMania 33 pre-show whereas the RAW Women’s title was going to be defended on the main card.

Fans didn’t like that and regardless of what contributed to it, WWE changed their decision.

However, another factor which comes into play is WWE’s use of their tag teams, and it’s clear that RAW boasts the better teams such as Cesaro and Sheamus, The Revival as well as The Hardy Boyz; but the arrival of the New Day on SmackDown LIVE will hopefully make a difference.

That means WWE will need to push some teams from SmackDown, and we’ve seen some experiments in the form of American Alpha as well as Rhyno and Heath Slater, but a new report suggests an entirely new team is going to be getting a massive push relatively soon.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez revealed that Gurv and Harv of The Singh Brothers are expected to receive a big push on SmackDown LIVE after they aligned themselves with Jinder Mahal last week, with The Maharaja now preparing for a WWE Championship match at Backlash against Randy Orton.

INDIAN EXPANSION

It’s been well-documented over the past week that Mahal is getting a big push because of WWE’s expansion into India, and that’s the very reason why Gurv and Harv are expected to be given more importance too as the company is planning on building new stars from the Indian market.

By doing this, the company is hopeful that this will increase ticket sales and gain more Network subscribers.

It’s also been rumoured that a fourth man could be joining the stable, after fans captured The Singh Brothers helping Jeet Rama win a dark match on NXT, leading many to believe he too could be brought into the fold.

While it’s all a bit sudden and clearly a way to make more money, you can’t blame WWE for freshening things up and giving fans something different.

Plus, SmackDown is the land of opportunity, so The Singh Brothers may get the chance to shine as opposed to being stuck on RAW.
