Everyone seems to think a boxing match between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather is going to happen - the biggest question now is when.

The Irish UFC star and American boxing legend are reportedly eying a September date for the mega-bout, but nothing has been set in stone yet.

That's left fighting fans hungry for any details about when this fight, which would be one of the biggest in history, will actually happen.

During an appearance on The MMA Hour, Conor McGregor's manager, Audie Attar, said he believes negotiations are heading in the right direction as the two parties continue to take jabs at one another through social media (via MMAFighting.com):

“Listen, I think there’s fan interest, and I think that’s brought us to a point where this may happen,” Attar said. “But we’ll see. Nothing is set in stone. I think it’s one of those things that’s a work in progress, but it’s definitely trending in the right direction.”

Though Attar isn't the only person to say that nothing is currently concrete but things are moving along nicely, it's good to hear so many people close to the situation being so positive about the fight actually happening.

Attar continued, saying he believes the fight has to happen now since the two athletes have gotten fans interested through the shots they've taken at each other through the media and through social media:

“I think first and foremost it’s just the fan interest,” he said. “I think Floyd and Conor organically just going back and forth, that kind of picked up the fan interest. Credit to Dana White and the UFC for recognizing a huge opportunity and wanting to be involved. I think that’s really the…I would say evolution of this whole thing.

“I think in today’s age of social media and media picking up on story lines and banter, people can also quantify and measure the viability of something like this from a business standpoint. It’s all happening organically, which is good.”

There are still details that need to be ironed out, like how much money each fighter will make from the bout, but those shouldn't derail the matchup from actually happening.

McGregor, who has a 21-3 record in the UFC, has been training for the boxing match for a while now, and Mayweather, who has an unblemished 49-0 career record, is still in great shape even though he hasn't fought for a couple of years.

With everyone on board for the fight to happen, it looks like it's a matter of when, not if, it will actually take place at this point.
