As Irish UFC star Conor McGregor continues to prepare for a potential mega-fight against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, he has a lot of support in his corner. One big supporter of McGregor's is UFC boss Dana White, who has made several headlines recently while discussing the possible crossover boxing match. Many have wondered why exactly White is so keen on helping McGregor land a bout outside of the octagon, as it doesn't really help the UFC brand. On Monday, a clip from the upcoming UFC Fight Pass series appeared on Twitter, and in it, White explains why he's been so supportive of McGregor and why the Notorious seemingly gets more freedom to do what he wants than other UFC fighters do:

"Listen, do I give Conor a little more leash than I give some other people? Absolutely," White says in the teaser clip. "You know why? He steps up, fights and puts all his chips out on the table. He's one of a kind."

The full interview is set to release on Tuesday, and there will likely be even more discussion of McGregor and his potential fight with Mayweather.

White has made several headlines recently while discussing the McGregor-Mayweather fight, commenting on why Mayweather may struggle and how much money each fighter will likely make.

In terms of what will happen inside the ring, White is more bullish on McGregor's chances to pull off the upset than most people, saying his star fighter is a force to be reckoned with (via MMAJunkie.com):

“Floyd Mayweather is 40 years old, Conor McGregor is 27," White said. "Conor’s a big dude. Floyd has trouble with southpaws; Conor is a southpaw. And Conor McGregor hits like a truck. When he hits you, you know it.

“So, in no way, shape or form am I saying Conor McGregor wins this fight. I don’t know.

“But it’s more interesting than people think it is. I promise you Conor McGregor will hit him. When they fight, [Mayweather] will get hit and it will be interesting to see what happens.”

The two athletes are reportedly targeting a September date for what is sure to be one of the biggest fights in the history of boxing if it actually happens.

Until the fight actually happens, people will continue to speculate about which athlete has the advantage, and it's likely we haven't heard the last of White's thoughts on the matter.

As September draws closer, it's safe to assume the outspoken UFC boss will continue to be in the headlines talking up his star fighter.
