Georges St-Pierre makes his long-awaited return to the UFC against Michael Bisping for the UFC Middleweight Championship. Combat sports fans had been waiting for his next fight for four long years and now it would be coming as soon as this summer. The proposed bout still doesn’t have a date but will see current middleweight champion Bisping take on the living legend in a match that is quickly becoming the biggest star clash in the octagon for the promotion in quite some time.Controversially, Dana White’s decision to let St-Pierre leapfrog a number of challengers that were patiently waiting in line to get their title shot will only be validated if the fight delivers on its sizable promise. That has been the main argument made by people who want to see this fight go down, what other avenues are their for two big names to mix it up that don’t include Conor McGregor giving up on his pursuit of a fabled match with Floyd Mayweather? There are none at all. Today the Hayabusa brand released a photoshoot video of Rush and he looks even bigger than he has in recent photos. He’s easily the biggest that he’s ever been and gearing up for a fight with a much bigger adversary in The Count.GSP talked about the challenges of putting on that weight: “I have always been the same weight. When I knew that we were going to fight Michael Bisping, when I signed the contract, that’s when I decided to put on a little more weight.“I won’t be able to put a lot, because I’m a natural guy. But I’m already a little bit bigger than I was. I’m the biggest I’ve ever been right now in my life. Bisping will still be bigger than men, but I’m confident that this will help.”

St-Pierre is hoping that this gamble will pay off in a big way, he has clearly never carried this much weight and adding the considerable time away from the octagon in, there could be some real hurdles for the former UFC champion to overcome when the date arrives.

Until then, he’s going to keep working on his body and get back to somewhere near the level that he was when he left the company. It’s ridiculous to expect him to compete at that level, but GSP can probably still get somewhere close.

Only time will tell if that will be enough to dethrone The Count.
