Since bursting onto the scene last season, the 19-year-old has continued to improve and grab everyone's attention with his scintillating pace in addition to his eye for goal.

In fact, Rashford scored on his Europa League debut, his Premier League debut, his League Cup debut, in his first Manchester derby and on his England debut.

However, after exploding onto the scene last term, the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer meant that his chances of starting for United, certainly down the middle, significantly decreased.

The nomadic Swede had a phenomenal impact on his first season at Old Trafford scoring 28 goals in all competitions.

But still, many fans thought that paying so much money and giving so much time to a 35-year-old Zlatan would hold Rashford back.

After all, Ibrahimovic was not substituted once all season long.

That was until he suffered a terrible knee injury against Anderlecht last week that brought his season to a premature end.

In that very same game, Rashford rose to the occasion and scored the all-important goal that sealed United's progression to the final four.

Even though Zlatan's injury may open up more playing time for the young England international, Rashford insists what he has learned from Ibra will be invaluable in the coming years.

Rashford told the Telegraph: “You will see the benefits in years to come,” he said. “What I have learnt from him is irreplaceable.”

The striker also took time to praise boss Jose Mourinho, insisting he has helped make him a better player already.

“His influence on the younger players, especially, is fantastic,” Rashford said. “We want that to continue because he is making us into better players. Now, when I go to the left or right, I see it differently to how I pictured it last season. They are things I didn’t have naturally inside me.

"I didn’t feel uncomfortable in the wide role, but when something is different it takes a while to get used to it. For me the development has been going great all the way through. Next season I think I will have come across most situations that are going to occur.”
