With the season coming to an end, clubs are starting to think about their award ceremony. The PFA have already had theirs with N’Golo Kane and Dele Alli being the winners on the night. And before the end of the current campaign, each club in England will also have their very own ceremony to reward their players for their hard work. While each club have slightly different awards at their gala, the main accolade that every cares about is, quite simply, the Player of the Year.As the name suggests, this award will be given to the best player of the season. And, according to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool will be giving theirs to Philippe Coutinho. The report says that Coutinho has been selected by 5 Times, the Liverpool Former Players Association, as the Reds’ outstanding performer this season. The Brazilian has scored 10 Premier League goals this season and his performances have attracted the interest from Barcelona. However, Liverpool fans clearly don’t agree with him picking up the gong.

Liverpool fans react

After the news was posted out on Twitter, many Kopites were left wondering how Sadio Mane didn’t pip him to the award.

The Senegalese international has been crucial for Liverpool this season, scoring 13 league goals in his debut campaign at Anfield.

And his importance was highlighted when the winger left for the African Cup of Nations in January, with Liverpool’s form dropping dramatically without him.

His performances this season earned him a place in the PFA Team oF the Year, while PFA Player of the Year, Kane, revealed that he voted for him.

Mane is unavailibale once again, though, this time through injury, as Jurgen Klopp’s side hope to qualify for a top four finish without him.
