Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was once again superb for Arsenal against Manchester City on Sunday, except this time, he was playing in a rather unfamiliar role.

Through a combination of injuries and poor form, Arsene Wenger has taken the risk of using a 3-4-3 formation recently and reaped the rewards.

Arsenal have won both games when they've started with three centre-backs, beating Middlesbrough away in the Premier League and City to reach the FA Cup final.

Another risk taken by Wenger was starting Oxlade-Chamberlain at right wing-back ahead of Hector Bellerin but, again, it proved a masterstroke.

Speaking after the game at Wembley, the Ox described his new position as "interesting" but appeared to relish the challenge.

"It's obviously an interesting position for me, it's new," he said. "I have to focus on the defensive side of things and I'm not used to being a right-back.

"Going forward it gives me the opportunity to do the things I've been used to doing over the years.

"The boys have adapted really well. We've had a taster of it earlier this week at Middlesbrough. Was it a risk today I don't know. We did really well with it today against a good City side."

Oxlade-Chamberlain was not only dangerous going forward, but solid defensively, coping well with the speed and threat of Leroy Sane.

That much is evident in the highlights reel below, which shows just how good the 23-year-old was - especially in the second half - and even reveals something quite exciting for Arsenal fans.

Based on his performance, it would seem the Ox has finally found his best position - and he's lethal when played there.

THE OX VS MAN CITY

Oxlade-Chamberlain's pace is a particularly dangerous weapon in his arsenal. On so many occasions throughout the game did he roar past City's players using his skill and speed.

His strength, stamina and creativity also came to the fore, as did his delivery, such as when he provided an inch-perfect cross for Nacho Monreal to score from.

What Oxlade-Chamberlain can ultimately do at right wing-back for Arsenal is what Victor Moses does at Chelsea.

Moses isn't the strongest defensively, but he makes up for it with his speed, determination and strength, not to mention his ability going forward.

Wenger is reportedly prepared to offer Oxlade-Chamberlain a new £100,000-per-week contract to stay and if he keeps performing like he did against City, he's most definitely worth it.

Very few players in Arsenal's squad possess the England international's power, which makes him such an indispensable member of the squad.
