You couldn’t blame Manchester United fans if they starting missing Luke Shaw earlier this season.Jose Mourinho seemingly forgot all about the left-back, leaving him out of numerous matchday squads, despite the player declaring himself fully fit. And, when Mourinho questioned his application in training earlier this month, Shaw’s future at Old Trafford appeared in real danger."Luke Shaw? It’s difficult for him to be on the bench because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Darmian, with Blind,” he said when asked why Shaw couldn’t make the squad.

"I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind."

However, after Mourinho called him out, Shaw has been playing more regularly and has produced some decent performances as United seek Europa League glory and a top-four finish in the Premier League.

But it wasn’t just Mourinho that was sending Shaw messages during his absence. That’s because one Manchester United fan decided to send Shaw a picture on Twitter every day until he either followed him back, retweeted one of his pictures or replied.

Twitter user @VintageMou probably didn’t think it would be long until the former Southampton man acknowledged him.

However, 59 days later and @VintageMou still hasn’t heard anything from Shaw. He was clearly now pretty desperate and was probably running out of images of use.

On the 59th day, he tweeted: “.@LukeShaw23 Day 59: This won't end FFFS @LukeShaw23,” clearly beginning to regret what he had started.

However, it was on this 59th day that Shaw finally replied.

He simply messaged back: “@VintageMou it can end now my friend.”

@VintageMou was understandably very relieved and replied: “I LOVE YOU”.

A bit stalkerish but @VintageMou proved that persistence and hard work pays off in the end - just like how Shaw has forced himself back into first-team football after being left out by Mourinho.
