On today of all days, you’d have thought Sky Sports News would have enough sports news to cover without the need to resort to petty Twitter exchanges between Premier League clubs.Newcastle United and West Ham United’s grounds were raided this morning as part of a fraud investigation, Joey Barton has been banned for 18 months after admitting a betting charge, David Moyes has been charged by the Football Association after threatening to slap a BBC reporter last month, while Neil Taylor has been suspended for two matches for his leg-breaking tackle on Seamus Coleman.Add that to the fact three Premier League matches are taking place this evening - not to mention everything happening in all the other major sports - and you’d imagine the poor workers over at Sky HQ are pretty swamped right now.But apparently that’s not the case.Jim White - aka Mr. Transfer Deadline Day - had time this afternoon to discuss a rather unimportant Twitter exchange between Manchester City and Manchester United.

The Twitter exchange

When Man City spelt Jesse Lingard’s surname incorrectly on their official Twitter account, Man Utd’s Twitter account made their local rivals aware of their mistake.

City replied with an Alan Partridge ‘This is Great Banter, It Really Is’ meme.

All fairly tame as Twitter exchanges between football clubs go.
