Even though his first UFC outing didn’t go exactly as planned, CM Punk is still hopeful of finding a second fight and continuing his pursuit of proving his doubters wrong.

His disastrous debut took place at UFC 203 on the undercard of Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem in Cleveland and lost in two minutes and 14 seconds when he submitted to Mickey Gall, who was competing in his third professional fight.

LOOKING FOR A FIGHT

Some WWE fans want him to come back to the company, and the chants prove that while others want him to fail inside of the Octagon because of the way he made his bitter exit from the company.

Some fans of the UFC, however, don’t feel like he belongs there as he hasn’t done enough in the sport to warrant a spot amongst the elite.

However, it seems like we’re a long way off from seeing the former WWE Champion back in Vince McMahon’s organisation and his UFC career looks to be moving on, but in a very weird direction.

It sounds like Punk has his next battle confirmed, but it won’t be inside an Octagon.

He will take part in MTV’s ‘The Challenge: Champs vs. Pros’ this spring, where he and nine other professional sports stars will go head-to-head with former winners of MTV shows Road Rules and Real World in athletic competitions.

Other athletes that will also be involved include former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman, former WNBA player Candice Wiggins, Olympian Lolo Jones and snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis.

It's been confirmed that each athlete will have a chance to win $50,000 for a charity of their choosing and Punk will be competing for PAWS Chicago, a no-kill animal shelter in his home city, according to MMA Fighting.

Although this is probably not what Punk had initially signed up for when joining the UFC, the same source is claiming that Punk was one of the biggest stars around when he joined and was paid $500,000 for his loss to Gall which may have risen to over $1 million after bonuses.

They added that the expectation is he’ll still have another fight in the UFC, but it’s unclear as to when that may be, or who against – despite being called out by some big names.

This comes less than a week after Punk revealed being in WWE was never his goal, but it’s safe to say that being on an MTV reality show as a 0-1 UFC fighter was probably not his aim either.

Who knows? Perhaps an entertaining stint on the show can raise his stock even further and land him another fight on a main card.
