The Los Angeles Clippers are in big trouble in the first round of the NBA playoffs, and it's not just because of Blake Griffin's toe injury.

Joe Johnson is crushing the Clippers' hopes one shot at a time, delivering gut punch after gut punch down the stretch in what's been an incredibly tight series. The Clippers are on the brink of elimination because Iso Joe has been ice cold when it matters the most.

In the last five minutes when the score has been within five points, or what's considered "clutch" time statistically, Johnson has been the deadliest player in over a decade worth of playoff basketball. He's second to only one man in the past twenty years, and that's Allen Iverson.

Johnson has made eight of his 10 clutch attempts in the opening round of the playoffs, as ESPN Stats and Info pointed out, and only Iverson's 10-of-12 performance in the 2003 first round bests it.

Rounding out the top-five behind Johnson are Steve Nash (7-of-10, 2005 conference semifinals), Paul Pierce (7-of-10, 2002 first round) and Rik Smits (7-of-10, 1999 conference finals). That's pretty serious company to be in, and even more impressive that he's besting them with games to spare.

Johnson has always been an incredibly talented shot taker, but that's also often been the downside of his game. He's never afraid of the shot or moment, but that also leads to some troubling shooting percentages and failed hero-ball attempts.

When it works - and it's working at a historic rate for the Utah Jazz - it's the kind of drama that makes the NBA playoffs so fun to watch. Or, in the case of Steve Ballmer, an absolute nightmare to live in:

The Iso Joe show has left the Clippers on the edge of elimination with a summer of change looming on the horizon. Both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul can opt-out of their contracts and test the free agency waters.

There's still a chance the Clippers shock the basketball world and win two straight without Griffin, but it won't be easy to win on the road in what's sure to be a booming Salt Lake City crowd.

Should that game come down to the wire, good luck stopping Johnson. He's lighting the Clippers up no matter what the shot, and with a chance to send the Clippers into an uncertain summer, should have a few knockout blows left to send them reeling into free agency.
