You would think the speculation on Neymar's future would have gone quiet after he signed a new five-year mega-deal at Barcelona last October - for a few years at least.

And yet reports suggest there is still a possibility the Brazilian superstar is available to purchase.

However, with a ridiculous release clause of €200 million, there are only a few clubs who can even consider the possibility of signing him.

According to Duncan Castles, Neymar has told close friends that two of those potential clubs have made contact regarding a future switch.

Writing in the Daily Record, Castles, who is the man in the know for everything related to Manchester United, is of the knowledge both the Red Devils and Chelsea have enquired about his availability.

Apparently, Neymar believes United are prepared to meet his gigantic release clause and manager Jose Mourinho has been 'particularly persistent in his courtship'.

But why would Neymar want to leave a club who continuously challenge for domestic and European honours and where he is part of one of the most devastating attacks in the world?

Well, that's just it. According to Castles' sources in Barcelona, Neymar is open to the possibility of joining a club where the team will be built around him rather than having to adapt his game to suit Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.

Admittedly, it does sound a little hard to believe, however, Mourinho has been a big fan of Neymar for a long time and even tried to sign him before Barcelona did during his time at Real Madrid.

The severity of Zlatan Ibrahimovic's cruciate knee ligament injury has forced Mourinho to change tact for his transfer plans in the summer and there is little doubt a new forward is at the top of his wishlist.

With Wayne Rooney likely to follow Zlatan out of the Old Trafford exit at the end of the season, Mourinho is likely to have a large wage budget and transfer kitty to play with.

But if fans were expecting a Paul Pogba-esque saga for Antoine Griezmann's signature this summer, any deal to bring Neymar to the Premier League is likely to be far more complicated and drawn out.

Nevertheless, watch this space...
