There was plenty of understandable excitement surrounding Shinsuke Nakamura’s arrival to SmackDown LIVE following WrestleMania 33.

If rumours are to be believed then The King of Strong Style might have even debuted at the Grandest Stage of Them All in Orlando on April 2 to take on The Miz as a surprise challenger, courtesy of SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan.

STRONG STYLE HAS ARRIVED

Instead, he bowed out of NXT the night earlier when he lost at TakeOver: Orlando to Bobby Roode for the NXT Championship, and then arrived on the blue brand two nights later.

It’s been weeks since that has taken place, yet fans are still waiting to see him in action when the cameras are rolling.

While he’s fully expected to take on Dolph Ziggler at the Backlash pay-per-view, fans are already looking ahead as to who he could feud with later on in his main roster career.

Kevin Owens is an interesting prospect; fans would love to see him go at it with Sami Zayn again and standing opposite of John Cena would be an incredible sight also – and that’s without getting into who he could battle on Monday Night RAW.

However, when you mention Nakamura in WWE, there’s only one man fans want to see him battle – AJ Styles.

STYLES VS. NAKAMURA

The matches the pair have had during their time in New Japan Pro Wrestling have been nothing short of phenomenal, and it’s that sort of intense competition we want to see in WWE in what would arguably be the matches of the year whenever they go at it.

They’ve both been vocal about wanting the match and WWE will definitely make it happen, even if we do have to wait a little while.

That hasn’t stopped them from teasing it, though, and it’s Nakamura who has fans buzzing with an image he posted on Instagram alongside a wonderful caption.

As you’ll be able to see below, Nakamura is taking a selfie and in the background, you can see The Phenomenal One.

Nakamura posted: “See you later buddy.”

It’s highly doubtful Nakamura dedicated a whole Instagram post to Styles to claim he’ll see him when they land after their flight – and he knows this is a match fans want to see as a quick scroll down the comments tells you all you need to know.

WWE knows the interest in there, and you can bet both Nakamura and Styles will continue to drop hints about meeting in a WWE ring down the line in what will be a WrestleMania-worthy clash.
