Dejan Lovren has committed his future to Liverpool by signing a new long-term contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2021.
The 27-year-old moved to Merseyside in 2014 and has been a regular in the side. His form though has been questionable.
The defender is more than capable of stringing together a decent run performances but has also had some shockers in a Liverpool shirt.
Last weekend's 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace is evidence of that.
But Jurgen Klopp has seen enough to reward Lovren with a new contract. He has been a key member of Liverpool's team over the last few years, making 105 appearances since joining from Southampton.
"I think I am the happiest guy [in the world] today," he said, according to BBC Sport.
"It was always my dream to stay as long as possible at one club that I love - and that is Liverpool."
The fact that Lovren's new contract is worth a staggering £20 million over the next four years may be part of the reason he's so happy today.
Broken down, the Croatian's new deal has him earning up to £100,000-a-week.
This puts him up there as one of the highest earning players in Europe. In fact, there are a number of huge names who are currently earning less than the Liverpool defender.
Here are just 12 of them:
Sadio Mane (Liverpool) - £90,000
Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal) - £90,000
Nemanja Matic (Chelsea) - £90,000
Santi Cazorla (Arsenal) - £90,000
Serge Aurier (Paris Saint-Germain) - £85,000
Gary Cahill (Chelsea) - £85,000
Thiago (Bayern Munich) - £77,000
Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham) - £75,000
Christian Eriksen (Tottenham) - £75,000
Marcos Alonso (Chelsea) - £70,000
Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus) - £57,000
Isco (Real Madrid) - £50,000
It's incredible to see that Lovren, who has helped his team keep seven clean sheets from 25 games in the league this season, is earning more than someone like Chiellini, who is seen as one of the best defenders in Europe.
Klopp will be hoping his new high earning defender can help get Liverpool back into the Champions League next season, otherwise, the money they're paying him won't seem justified.
