While the recent superstar shake-up was exciting in terms of finding out which star ended up on which brand, it’s clear that numerous feuds have had to suffer because of it.

Arguably, the biggest is the storyline featuring SmackDown LIVE’s Randy Orton and Monday Night RAW’s Bray Wyatt.

RESET BUTTON

The two are set to do battle this Sunday at the Payback event in a House of Horrors match, but the WWE Championship will no longer be on the line as they are both on different brands.

It’s a similar situation with Kevin Owens and his United States Championship as he defends his gold on the same card against Chris Jericho, with the winner moving to the blue brand.

It seems like Payback is the reset button for WWE, and fresh feuds are set to begin the following night and we’ve already caught a glimpse at two of them.

Based on what we’ve seen on RAW over the past couple of weeks, it seems the direction we were heading in would see Dean Ambrose put his Intercontinental Championship on the line against The Miz, while The Eater of Worlds would finish off his feud with The Viper on Sunday night and turn his attention to his next target.

That name was obvious, as Wyatt appeared on-screen after Finn Balor’s victory, and it was confirmed by numerous outlets that the feud is something WWE had booked.

However, according to a new rumour from Cageside Seats, WWE could be altering both of those feuds.

CHANGING FEUDS

You can argue that Wyatt perhaps can’t be taken seriously anymore as he always loses in the final match of a feud, but the prospect of seeing him stand opposite The Demon is still something fans wanted to see.

They’re going to have to wait a little longer, though, as the source is claiming WWE is now having Balor feud with The Miz instead.

That means once again, we’re going to see a feud between Wyatt and The Lunatic Fringe.

While it may seem underwhelming on the surface, it does give Wyatt another chance to impress in a championship feud, and you can’t rule out a new champion either.

Although, you have to wonder how many more chances he will be given; along with the fact that he’s been a victim of poor booking and if it continues as it is, then no feud will make a difference to get him back to the level he was at when he faced off against somebody like John Cena.

The Balor move is interesting and it seems as if the cheers The Miz receives is probably why this decision was made.

Balor is universally loved, and it seems like a way to continue getting him over as a face while they can finally get some heat on the A-Lister from WWE fans – even though he continues to do incredible work as a heel.

They’ve thrown him in at the deep end and it didn’t pay off in the long run, so taking this approach is probably the safer bet for everyone involved.
