Nobody would have thought Chris Jericho’s latest WWE ‘stint’ would have lasted this long.

Fans are often used to seeing a hyped-up Y2J return fall flat; it sadly ends up underwhelming and fans are left depleted by seeing him pop in and out of the company.

SUCCESSFUL RETURN

That’s not a knock on his talent, because it’s a fact that Jericho is one of the greatest WWE stars of all time.

However, it’s been well-documented that Jericho has stuck around a lot longer than originally planned because of how successful his latest run has been.

This dates back to his feud with Dean Ambrose; the comedic factor he brought to their intense feud made it enjoyable. It was refreshing to watch and since then, he not only got a potted plant over but also his extensive collection of expensive scarves as well as the infamous List of Jericho.

All good things must come to an end, though, and although we’ve heard it on multiple occasions over the past year or so, Jericho’s time in WWE is coming to an end again.

According to Wrestling Inc, Jericho’s last date with WWE is next week on Monday Night RAW, just one night after he’d due to challenge Kevin Owens for the United States Championship at the Payback pay-per-view.

WWE EXIT

It’s not much of a spoiler as many are expecting it to play out this way, but The Prizefighter is reportedly set to retain his gold as the stipulation suggested the winner would move to SmackDown LIVE.

The reason for his departure remains the same as it has for the past year, he’s due to go on tour with his band Fozzy and that means he’ll be unable to compete on RAW on a weekly basis and commit to Fozzy – he’s either all in or nothing.

It was last speculated that he’d depart in September 2016, as Fozzy were said to be recording their new album but he obviously stuck around, and you could even say that his then-budding friendship with Kevin Owens – which fans loved – helped him stick around as that story needed to have a clear ending.

We got that with the incredible Festival of Friendship, and Jericho drew high praise for the work he put into that storyline and was even rewarded a run as United States Champion.

He can’t put it off any longer as Fozzy’s touring begins in around one week, and Jericho also isn’t advertised for SmackDown LIVE next week which suggests not only is he losing, but he’s on his way out.

It’s been a wonderful run, and you can bet fans will welcome him back with open arms and hope he brings the list with him.
