Every transfer window, pundits and fans alike say that Arsenal need to sign Europe's big names in order to finally challenge for the Premier League title.

Last summer, they brought in Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez but as of yet, supporters of the club are still not happy with the trio and are craving the world's very best.

They are demanding a marquee signing, one which rivals fans will be jealous of and according to Gunners legend Robert Pires, the club could well be on their way to making one.

The former French winger believes that the north London club will successfully acquire his countryman Kylian Mbappe this summer from Monaco, stating that Arsene Wenger is the right man to coach Europe's hottest prospect.

"I do think Arsenal will sign him. The problem is how much," Pries told Bwin.

"Mbappe has the potential to play for Arsenal and Wenger is the right manager to manage him.

"Monaco and Arsenal are very similar in clubs, so it won't be much of a transition."

Mbappe has - like many young French strikers - been compared to Thierry Henry, with his pace, skill and clinical finishing eerily similar to that of the ex-Gunners superstar.

Pires continued: "The comparison is unnecessary, he's not ready to be compared to Thierry.

"Mbappe is a very similar player but to compare the two players would be unfair.

"I hope that Kylian can follow in the footsteps of Thierry Henry, he has the same profile as Thierry - quick, strong and a great finisher but he's very young so I would hold off on comparisons just yet."

Mbappe would be the man Arsenal are crying out for, a young superstar ready to be moulded into a frightening entity, one which could dominate England's top-flight.

His rise to the top this season has been nothing short of ridiculous. Twenty-three goals in all competitions, including five in the Champions League knockout stages, the most ever by a teenager and he still has at least two semi-final legs to play.

At just 18, the world is at his feet and if Wenger can pull off the transfer, those asking for his head may just quieten down for a while.
