The Chicago Bulls' championship dream ended on Friday night when they lost to the Boston Celtics 105-83 at the United Center, meaning they had been defeated 4-2 in their first-round series against the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

The Celtics dominated as five of their players were able to reach double figures in points, with Avery Bradley getting the most with 23. Bulls' Jimmy Butler managed to score 23 points as well on the night to try and keep his team's playoff hopes alive, but none of his teammates could really match to him.

Not even Dwyane Wade, as the 12-time NBA All-Star only managed two points, three rebounds, and three assists after just over 19 minutes of play.

A decision is now looming for Wade now the playoffs are over for Chicago, as the 35-year-old has to decide if he wishes to pick up his $23.8 million player option next season and continue playing for the Bulls, or look to play the rest of his career elsewhere.

Speaking to ESPN after his exit meeting earlier today, Wade said that he wants to leave all options open this summer, neither confirming or denying his status with the Bulls next season.

He said: "There's so many different variables that come into play, especially for me at this point in my career. Like I said, I have a great luxury. I don't need to ring-chase, but I can. It's a great luxury to have if I want to do. Or I can be a part of passing down my knowledge to younger players. It's either way.

"Whatever I decide, I'm going to embrace whatever role I have on a team. That's sometimes being the second option. Sometimes I'm going to be the first. And sometimes this season, I had to be the third or fourth. It all changes, and you want to be the best at whatever role is presented to you. I've always been that way. It won't change. That will always be me."

After signing with Chicago last summer from playing his first 13 seasons with the Miami Heat, Wade averaged 18.3 points this season, but he was mostly non-existent during his team's first-round playoff loss to the Celtics.

He will meet with Bulls executives Gar Forman and John Paxson in a few weeks time to discuss the team's direction before he makes any sort of decision about his future. It's unlikely, however, that he will get a matching offer for next season to the one he has with Chicago because of the price and his age.
