Chelsea are absolutely flying at the moment, everything they touch seems to turn to gold.

With an FA Cup final place and four-point lead at the top of the Premier League, the Blues are sitting pretty. Antonio Conte has picked up the rubble of last season and transformed the side into title favourites in just the space of 12 months.

Therefore, you’d think that the Italian was pretty happy with his squad. When you’ve lost just five league games this season, why would you want to greatly overhaul your starting XI?

Well, Chelsea’s Twitter page seems to have made an almighty gaffe as far as that is concerned.

The Blues face Everton in this afternoon in a trip to Goodison Park that could have prominent permutations for their title challenge. After all, Tottenham are in fine form themselves and are looking to claw back at the deficit.

Consequently, as a club’s Twitter page is expected to do, Chelsea announced their side for the Everton trip in less than 140 characters. However, four of those characters proved rather bizarre.

If the club’s announcement was to be believed, Conte had dramatically re-signed Petr Cech after two seasons away at Arsenal. Thibaut Courtois simply wasn’t cutting it, clearly.

Of course, that’s not actually the case and one of Chelsea’s members of staff will currently be feeling somewhat embarrassed.

The bizarre and utterly hilarious mistake can be seen below:

Whoever penned the tweet absolutely nailed 10 of Chelsea’s starters; Cech sticks out like a saw thumb, though. If the 34-year-old had departed in January then maybe the error would be more understandable, but come on, it’s been two years!

Nevertheless, we are discussing a man who made nothing short of 486 appearances for the Blues and became a cult hero. He has four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and a Champions League title to prove it.

The shot stopper currently finds himself at the Emirates, however, and with a tough task to try and retain a place in the top four. He maybe wishes he was back at Chelsea and starting against Everton on current form.

That being said, regardless of whether it was Courtois or Cech between the sticks, Conte’s men face a tough task on Merseyside. Ronald Koeman certainly won’t make things easy for the away side.

Tottenham will be hoping that the Toffees can do them a huge favour and they, themselves, can provoke some more Cech-related mistakes in the north London derby later today.
