Manchester United’s hopes of securing a top-four finish suffered a blow this afternoon after they were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Swansea City at Old Trafford.Jose Mourinho’s side took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Marcus Rashford was awarded a rather generous penalty. Wayne Rooney stepped up to convert the spot-kick.Rooney went close to doubling United’s advantage in the second half but his shot was blocked by his own teammate, Anthony Martial.United’s failure to put the game to bed ultimately cost them. With 10 minutes left to play, up stepped Gylfi Sigurdsson to score the equaliser with an excellent free-kick.It could have been worse for the Red Devils at the death. Fernando Llorente spurned a gilt-edged opportunity to secure all three points for the visitors, fluffing his lines at the most inopportune moment.
Herrera is being blamed for Sigurdsson’s free-kick
But could United have done more to prevent Sigurdsson’s free-kick?
There was a bizarre moment when Ander Herrera rushed back to get himself on the line.
The Spanish midfielder was then seen sprinting back to the wall seconds later.
Sigurdsson then picked out the area of the goal Herrera had just vacated and United’s No. 21, who has been superb in recent weeks, was lambasted on Twitter.

But there's a problem with blaming Herrera...
However, there’s a problem with this.
On close inspection, it’s clear that David de Gea waves away his compatriot.
He didn’t want Herrera on the goal-line and told him to rejoin the wall.
See?
Some United fans are blaming De Gea instead
In fairness, some fans on Twitter have spotted this and are blaming De Gea instead of Herrera…
