Carl Froch has said that he believes that Anthony Joshua will be a better fighter after Klitschko sent him to the canvas during their title fight on Saturday night.

The 39-year-old believes AJ has come of age following his victory inside a crammed Wembley stadium. Joshua’s professional record now stands at an impressive 19-0.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the former world super-middleweight champion Froch explained: "There were a lot of questions - they've all be answered. Anthony Joshua came of age.

"It was almost impossible what he did - but he did it. All that training, all that sparring he put himself through the gym, all that pain was worth it.

"He dethroned an old, admittedly, but still a king in Wladimir Klitschko."

The Cobra after watching Joshua’s performance in front of 90,000 fight fans supposed that the 27-year-old would learn from the experience and be a better fighter for it:

“To get put down and then somehow get up will make him a better fighter, no doubt about it,

“We're talking about heavyweight boxing, when it can only take one punch, but him getting up proved he is better than a lot of people expected.

"Yes, he hadn't been down before, with the whole world watching, but that was one of the big questions we had about him.

"Lennox Lewis has done it, Mike Tyson has done it, anyone could get knocked out, especially when you are caught by such a clean shot from Klitschko. Said Froch.

Even at 41-years-old Klitschko still packs one hell of a punch, and AJ felt the full force of it in the sixth round.

But the 27-year-old Brit recovered after holding on in the 7th to eventually win the WBA, IBF and IBO belts.

Klitschko himself was knocked to the canvas in the 5th before the fight was stopped in the 11th round and the Ukrainian showed his class after the fight by telling Sky Sports:

“The best man won tonight. And it’s an amazing event for boxing.

“Two gentlemen fought each other and he was better today than I.

“It’s really sad that I didn’t make it tonight I was planning to do it but it didn’t work. But all due respect to Anthony. Congratulations.”

Anthony Joshua's next opponent is a mandatory fight against Kubrat Pulev. After that who knows, it could be either Klitschko, Fury or even Deontay Wilder.
