Anderson Silva is fired up.

The former UFC middleweight champ was set to take on Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 212 on pay-per-view (PPV) from Brazil, but unfortunately Gastelum was flagged by the United States Anti-Doping Agency for a potential violation and removed from the card.

Silva has been left without an opponent and his status for the event is currently up in the air.

Earlier today (Mon. May 1, 2017) Silva joined The MMA Hour to discuss his current situation and was very displeased. The former middleweight champ pretty much demanded an interim title bout against No. 1-ranked Yoel Romero - or else he'll retire (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“The guys no give this fight for me for the interim belt, I’m done,” Silva said. “I’ll go be with my family. I’m done.”

“I say, ‘OK, I go fight Yoel Romero,’” Silva said. “Because I know I respect Yoel Romero, he’s a great fighter. He’s No. 1 in the ranks. But one thing — why Yoel Romero come to Brazil for fight me for nothing?”

“I stayed here for a long time for training,” Silva said. “This is not my fault for Gastelum to go out of the fight. This is not my problem. My problem is training hard for fight in Brazil for my fans.

"What happens to my fans now? What happens to the people who paid to see my fight in Brazil. This is the second time this happened. I’m tired of this.”

“This is perfect bullshit,” Silva said. “I’m tired. I’m so tired. I’m respectful long time. Everything, I never talk about bad situations in UFC. … I think I’m done.

"I fight for long time in my life. And I’m tired, bro. I’m so upset. I have my legacy, I have my story. It’s very frustrating, because this is the second time I’m not fighting in my country.”

Given everything 'The Spider' has done for the sport it would be hard to deny him his wish. On short notice when UFC 200 was in jeopardy Silva stepped in to take on UFC light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier after Jon Jones was pulled.

Silva wants to compete in his home country of Brazil and for the grand prize of becoming interim middleweight champ.

The division is currently in an awkward place with current champ Michael Bisping waiting on former welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre to get his affairs in order for their bout (which has yet to receive a date).

Do you think Silva deserves an interim title bout against Romero?
