During the peak of his powers - around 2004-2006 - it appeared certain that Ronaldinho would finish his career with his reputation as one of the greatest footballers of all-time firmly cemented.

The Brazilian was the best player on the planet at the time - even ahead of the great Zinedine Zidane, who was coming to the end of his career - and deservedly won the Ballon d’Or in 2005.

But despite giving joy to millions of football fans around the globe during his unforgettable spell with Barcelona, Ronaldinho fell out of love with the beautiful game and his career eventually petered out.

Ronaldinho’s decline coincided with the rise to superstardom of both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Unlike Ronaldinho, Messi and Ronaldo haven’t lost an ounce of passion for football. They still want to be the best, they still have that insatiable desire to play every game and that hunger to score goals hasn’t faded either.

But in terms of raw footballing talent, there’s no doubt that Ronaldinho belongs in the same conversation as both Messi and Ronaldo.

Some fans would argue Ronaldinho possessed even more natural talent than the two players who’ve dominated world football since 2008.

Ronaldinho XI v Ronaldo XI on PES

With that in mind, one YouTuber has decided to find out who would win out of a team comprised of 11 Ronaldinhos against a team comprised of 11 Ronaldos.

Instead of FIFA 17 or Football Manager 2017, they’ve used Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 on the PS4 to conduct their experiment - and the results are very interesting.

Here’s what happened…

Team Ronaldinho 0-1 Team Ronaldo (14)

Team Ronaldo break the deadlock in the 14th minute thanks to an excellent strike into the bottom corner. Goalkeeper Ronaldinho stood absolutely no chance of saving that one.

Team Ronaldinho 0-2 Team Ronaldo (21)

Team CR7 then went 2-0 up seven minutes later with another fine finish.

Would there be any way back for Team Ronaldinho?

Team Ronaldinho 0-3 Team Ronaldo (26)

Five minutes after that and it was 3-0, with Team Ronaldo punishing some lapse Team Ronaldinho defending.

Game over. Surely?

Team Ronaldinho 0-4 Team Ronaldo (41)

This is all getting a bit embarrassing now. 4-0 and it’s not even half-time.

Team Ronaldinho left themselves with a mountain to climb heading into the second half.

Team Ronaldinho 1-4 Team Ronaldo (64)

But wait, what’s this? A lifeline for Team Ronaldinho!

Goalkeeper Ronaldo dived far too late to keep the ball out the net.

Team Ronaldinho 2-4 Team Ronaldo (82)

In the 82nd minute, Team Ronaldinho pulled another goal back.

However, that was the end of the scoring. A convincing victory for Team Ronaldinho.
