Last week, WWE finally announced Brock Lesnar’s first Universal Championship defence since he captured the gold at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando on April 2.
The company announced their new pay-per-view for July which replaces Bad Blood, questionably named Great Balls of Fire and as expected, fans have been quick to criticise the WWE for allowing Lesnar to remain off television and not defend his championship – considering there’s a 30-day rule for champions to defend their titles.
The Beast Incarnate is apparently exempt to that rule it seems, but the Wrestling Observer did note this week that Lesnar is expected to feature a lot more on WWE television this year in his current Universal Championship reign.

Now, a new report from Cageside Seats has revealed a list of four names from Monday Night RAW that are expected to challenge Lesnar for his Universal Champion, at the very least.
The first seems to be taking place at the Great Balls of Fire and based on how WWE has booked him recently, it’s safe to assume that Braun Strowman will be battling Lesnar.

The Monster Among Men had a tense stare-off with the champion the night after WrestleMania, and he’s been destroying Roman Reigns ever since.
FOUR POTENTIAL CHALLENGERS
WWE has been building him up and booking him as a monster and it’s only a matter of time before he gets his title match, the only question is how they maintain his credibility should Lesnar destroy him.
Another name the report has mentioned is Finn Balor, as it’s been rumoured for months that he’ll go after the Universal title he never lost as soon as he returns.
While he’s back and competing again, it looks as if he’s going to be feuding with Bray Wyatt. Despite that, Balor is expected to be in the title mix come SummerSlam and the whole Demon vs. Beast aspect is something WWE could promote brilliantly.
Surprisingly, Seth Rollins is a new name that’s been mentioned – but he too has unfinished business with Lesnar and the roles could reverse from the last time they met.
It’s obvious that he’s suffering as a face as he can’t seem to connect with fans, so it’ll be interesting to see how a feud between The Architect and Lesnar plays out.
Finally, it’s been well-documented that WWE is looking to have a coronation for Reigns at WrestleMania 34 which means The Big Dog could be dethroning Lesnar in New Orleans next year.
Again, fans wouldn’t be too pleased with the decision but you can tell the WWE isn’t going to budge from their stance; although, with these four names in the running, it makes you wonder what they could have planned for Jeff Hardy too.
