Kayfabe may be dead, but apparently, a few WWE fans didn't get the message.
For the past few weeks, one of the hottest feuds in the WWE has been between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns. The pair are no strangers to one another, as they have competed against one another at pay-per-view (PPV) events on multiple occasions.
Recently, however, their feud has escalated greatly, so great that at one point Strowman flipped Reigns over while inside of an ambulance truck.
Yesterday (Tues. May 2, 2017) the WWE Monday Night RAW crew arrived in Rome for the WWE's European tour, and some WWE stars got to go sight seeing. Titus O'Neal took to Twitter to post a variety of pictures.
One photo in particular, featuring Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Matt Hardy, Titus O'Neil, Heath Slater and Curtis Axel at the Roman Colosseum, set the WWE Universe ablaze. Strowman and Reigns can be seen in the picture posing together, smiles and all, in the midst of their heated rivalry:
For those old school fans who still treasure kayfabe, that didn't sit too well with them. One fan was angered by the fact that a photo like this was posted after Reigns and Strowman achieved 'the hottest angle in years':
One fan responded to this by pointing out what many already believe to be true, kayfabe died years ago:
Despite the fact that kayfabe may have died some time ago, some fans still hold the belief that it shouldn't be broken to such extremities:
Another fan agreed that although kayfabe is dead, the pair shouldn't be seen blatantly posing together as though all is well:
One responder also brought up the possibility that someone could end up getting in some trouble for the picture:
This past weekend at WWE Payback Strowman defeated Reigns and claimed to have 'destroyed' the creator of the 'Roman Empire'. In the picture, however, Reigns looks just fine and it's all smiles for he and the big guy:
While it was fun back in the day to believe that the Superstars we knew and loved to watch on television really did like or hate one another in real life, just as they did on TV, those days have come to an end.
Backstage relationships and friendships are very well known now, thanks to social media, having put a dagger into kayfabe as we know it. What are your thoughts on the picture featuring Reigns and Strowman?
