One of the funniest storylines in recent history has been El Hadji Diouf’s long-running feud with Liverpool heroes Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.
Diouf seems to pop up every few months with a new verbal assault on his former Liverpool teammates.
Ever since Carragher remarked that Diouf is “the only No 9 ever to go through a whole season without scoring,” the Senegalese has seemingly made it his mission to discredit Carragher and Gerrard’s achievements at Liverpool.

We’ll start in 2015, when Diouf labelled Gerrard an “egoist” and Carragher a “useless turkey” in an interview with French magazine So Foot, via the Telegraph.
"Steven Gerrard is a great club player but an egotist as well," Diouf said. "He didn't care about Liverpool winning - all that mattered for him was getting on the scoresheet.

"The person I would least want to spend Christmas with is Jamie Carragher. I hate him. He was the biggest turkey I've seen on a pitch. I found him useless."
Diouf let rip again in February 2016
Fast forward to February 2016 for an even more scathing assessment from Diouf.
“The difference between Jamie [Carragher] and me is that I am a world-class player and he is a s***," he told the same magazine, via the Mirror.
“The type of s*** that writes a book and mentions me all the time. Me, in my book, he does not warrant one phrase: he's a f****** loser.”
He didn't stop there
The retired 36-year-old even managed to take a shot at Gerrard and Carragher when he discussed Sadio Mane’s move to Anfield last summer.
“Mane has to be worried about nothing,” he told the BBC in July.
“Today you don’t have a bad mentality at Liverpool like Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher. You don’t have a bad mentality any more, people to like only themselves.”
It’s clearly personal. But while Diouf has become increasingly irritated, Carragher has taken it all in jest, tweeting after Diouf called him a “f******* loser: "The other big difference is he's scored less goals for LFC in the Premier League than me! (Not counting OGs!!!).”
Carragher's latest Diouf joke
Diouf was in Carragher’s thoughts again on Wednesday evening when the former defender received a tweet from a fan joking that Liverpool will rename a stand at Anfield after him.
It came after it was reported that the Merseyside club will rename the Centenary Stand the Kenny Dalglish Stand.
Carragher responded by joking that it will be a fight between himself and Diouf for the honour of having their name on a stand at Liverpool’s famous stadium.
“Well Stevie will get one, can’t change the Kop so a fight between me & Diouf for the last one!,” he wrote.
Maybe Liverpool can arrange a fan poll to decide between Carragher and Diouf?
