It wasn’t a very good night for Millwall Football Club on Thursday night. They faced Scunthorpe in the first-leg of the playoff semi-final and would have been hoping to capitalise on their impressive home record. However, they could only draw 0-0 and their fans were clearly unimpressed. After the final whistle, supporters ran onto the pitch as they attempted to make their way towards the travelling fans. Luckily, police and stewards were on hand to prevent a nasty clash. But that didn’t stop some home supporters from fighting between themselves in disgraceful scenes. And one Millwall fan was also seen filming himself seemingly verbally abusing a Scunthorpe player as he walked off the pitch.

Unfortunately, some home fans didn’t wait until full-time to act disgracefully. That’s because one young supporter was caught throwing coins at the referee as he booked a Millwall player.

The offender can be seen throwing two objects towards the ref but, luckily, they missed him.

Remarkably, Millwall were awarded the ‘Family Club of the Year’ last week.

The Lions picked up the Nickelodeon award for attracting new young fans and organising activities for families before matches.

Chief executive Steve Kavanagh explained how delighted he was that Millwall have been recognised for their work.

"It is a fantastic achievement to win this award and everyone associated with Millwall should be very proud.

"When I first arrived at this club it was very quickly apparent just how much thought and hard work went into fan engagement and making the matchday experience as good as it could possibly be for young supporters and their families.

"This club perhaps has to work harder than any other and it's very pleasing for Millwall to have been recognised with what is a very distinguished award.”

Less than a week later and Millwall fans are making headlines for all the wrong reasons once again. Oh dear.
