Chelsea have nearly done it.Tottenham's 1-0 defeat to West Ham United has all but secured the Blues the Premier League title. The Hammers' win, courtesy of Manuel Lanzini's strike, leaves the Blues four points clear with a game in hand. Tottenham have just three games to force a miracle.Tottenham could ill afford to drop points, what with Chelsea already holding a four-point advantage with the season close to an end.But that’s exactly what they did. It really is a kick in the teeth for a Spurs team that has done extraordinarily well to keep pace with Chelsea.

Now, the Blues can extend their lead to seven points with a win over Middlesbrough on Monday evening.

If it wasn’t already, Tottenham’s title bid is over.

Pochettino hadn't given up hope before tonight

After defeating Arsenal last weekend, Mauricio Pochettino vowed to ensure that Spurs wouldn’t give up on the title.

“Yes, we are in the race for the title. We reduce again the gap to Chelsea,” Pochettino told reporters, via the Mirror.

“And now we have to be focused because we have again on Friday a very important game against West Ham and now it’s important to be focused on that game.

“We will have the chance to play before Chelsea and if we are able to win at West Ham… it will be a tough game and a difficult game and if we are able to win we will see what happens.”

Chelsea fans are going crazy

Tough and difficult indeed. West Ham have caused Tottenham problems in recent seasons and the Hammers, despite coming under pressure at times, have dealt them the ultimate blow this evening.
