Football is full of many opinions, however pretty much everyone can agree that the hottest prospect in Europe right now is Kylian Mbappe.

The teenage sensation has been on fire for Ligue 1 leaders Monaco this season, scoring 25 goals and providing eight assists in 53 games.

It's no surprise that Mbappe's rapid rise has caught the attention of the world's biggest clubs, with current Champions League holders Real Madrid interested and possibly set to pay a whopping €100 million to sign him.

Given that captain Radamel Falcao could also leave Monaco in the summer, Monaco are desperate to keep hold of Mbappe but are starting to realise just how difficult a task that will be.

As a result, Leonardo Jardim's men are beginning to plan for life after the 18-year-old, and the player who they are currently thinking about to replace him has been revealed.

Mbappe replacement?

Spanish news outlet Sport-English have reported that, according to Sportune.fr, Monaco are considering Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer as a potential replacement for Mbappe.

The French side are aware of the Spain international's contract details, and even though he has a €100 million release clause, they could sign him for as little as €20 million and are ready to make an offer.

Alcacer only moved to the Nou Camp last August, having scored 43 goals in 124 appearances for Valencia, but he has really struggled to find his feet.

Even though the 23-year-old has shown signs of improvement over the past few weeks, scoring six times across his last ten matches, it took him until December to score his first official goal for Barca.

In total, Alcacer has registered seven goals from 25 games this term, and the Spaniard has, of course, found it hard to get regular game time in his back-up role to Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

What next for Monaco?

While it will be tough for Monaco to overturn the 2-0 deficit against Juventus next week, they have a three-point lead at the top of Ligue 1, with a game in hand on defending champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Whatever happens, to win the French title would be a remarkable achievement, given PSG's total dominance in recent years, and the future could still be bright for Les Monégasques, even if Mbappe departs.
