It’s safe to say that the House of Horrors match at the RAW-exclusive Payback event didn’t go exactly as the WWE had hoped.

While it certainly had the potential to be something incredible as it was pre-recorded, it just fell flat and the fans didn’t seem to be into it that much.

HOUSE OF HORRORS

You can’t really blame them as the audience in attendance were forced to stare at the screen for a while without any action happening in the ring.

In fact, that probably had an effect on the match between Samoa Joe and Seth Rollins, as the fans weren’t really invested in it after watching the earlier segment and it left them a little depleted.

Not only that, but they pointed out some huge errors and inconsistencies from the fact that it wasn’t dark in San Jose, to The Viper apparently stopping for a shave on his way to the arena – it comes as no surprise that fans chanted boring as it was going on.

Recently, WWE Hall of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler criticised the WWE’s efforts, as he believed they fell short of expectations and with the huge budget they have and the production team, they should have lived up to the horror aspect as baby dolls hanging from the ceiling aren’t exactly the most frightening of things for grown men.

Usually, Stone Cold Steve Austin is the first to offer constructive criticism when things aren’t going to plan in WWE.

He’s offered advice to Rollins as he struggles to get over with fans, while he was also disappointed with the WrestleMania match between Orton and The Eater of Worlds.

However, it turns out the Texas Rattlesnake was actually a big fan of the match, claiming it was almost perfect.

AUSTIN A FAN

Speaking on his podcast, he said: “I watched this as a fan and when I watch these guys start to scrap inside the house, I thought it was shot really well.

“I thought it was edited really well. The music, the score, was almost cinematic.

“The guys working in the house, they did everything that they could, it was shot as well as it could be shot. I thought it was executed damn near to perfection.”

It turns out not everybody hated the match, and it’s probably a relief for Wyatt and Orton who perhaps needed this extra confidence boost after so much negativity surrounding their lengthy rivalry.
